Divided We Stand

Inspired by a tremendously bold & powerful track, “Who we are” by Machinehead Once upon a misery call Deception broke bread with diabetic circumstances Sugar Coating Half-assed smiles Phantoms of a listless fortitude Haunting today’s unfulfilled promise As they wear silken layered Khakis With African cotton dreams And unclaimed pocket protectors to share their wealth Amongst other wealthy failures They ask to make “change” While folding up heroin-laced $50s under Cabernet bodies of Christ Once, twice, three times a deceiver Who dares draws irradiated chalk upon broken billboards Not the educated teacher Satisfying extra-curricular agendas Grading heat-stroked ovulations On jezebel’s curve Nightmare of the philanthropist Giving unto others’ unexplained wishes The “hungry”, fed The lonely, shed S h e d Shedding retinal rejections Over misguided wisdoms As they listen for audible sanity Wandering within the bellows of an insatiable burden (Cricket sounds) ©Drake J. NO CRICKET SOUNDS my friend!!! This reminds me of a poem from my Puerto Rican SLAM POET friend from Orlando Florida, I lived there for 5 years and hardly anyone writes with more PIZAZZ than my homeboy "El'-COOL- LOW". Before ya' diss, I didn't make up the nickname. YOUR poem here, is Dianamic, especially the Heroin Lace Fiddy Spot!~ & 7 rate all day. DO you do open mic?

I'm a Puerto Rican from Jersey. You won't be offending me, sir. :) The nickname is hilarious. Thank you so much, Roboto! I've done some Open Mics in Jersey & Cali, the latter state being where I live now. :) Cheers sir!

There's plenty of deception going on in the world today-it's positively sickening. I just hope if we begin to find it in our lives or actually in ourselves we will be able to dispel it from our life. This piece covers a long range of this deceptive spirit. Quite a strengthening piece. "They ask to make “change” While folding up heroin-laced $50s under Cabernet bodies of Christ Once, twice, three times a deceiver" Love your play on words. Very very effective way to get the points across.

It's very sad, yes. More upsetting is that the places which claim to be against that mindset, promotes it with such indignant pride & egotistical wonder. They're nothing more but a cancerous herd of ironic contradictions. That said, thank you so very much, Laura! BIG HUG!

The "wisest" people that are supposed to teach us right from wrong, are often in need of that lesson themselves.... so sad, but true!.... These words are amazingly powerful, Drake. Rock on!

We humans have much to answer for. We have truly articulated our wealthy failures and confused them with what it truly means to be successful. Fabulous piece Drake.

Yeah, it's becoming an epidemic here in the US. It's just so pitiful. I'll never fully get it out of my system. That's taking away half of my fun. ;)
