Discombobulation

I awoke at twenty five to eight.Huh,I must have been more tired than I thought. After waking at five that morning I had spent several hours working in the yard cleaning flower beds dead heading flowers. After working in the morning from about seven to ten I showered preparing to run errands.I got home around three the day still relatively young and decided I am not sleepy but mentally depleted as the whole day had been about movement . I had been feeling rather unmotivated as of late and was working to shake off this stifling lethargy.Added to this was the complete disruption of a healthy sleep cycle. In my efforts to get back in sync with a natural circadian rhythm I had found my attempts aborted by late night calls from family.Once awakened all bets are off as to resuming slumber. So around five I fell asleep and slept till seven thirty five. I got up drank a bottle of water and went to find my husband sitting in the recliner which has become his preferred happy place.Hmm I thought he hasn't made coffee yet.I went outside and noticed it looked sort of gray .Returning to living room I asked about rain chances. He said a possibility .I picked up hand held clippers and went out into the yard walking bare foot in the dry grass which should have been a clue.I started trimming around flower beds and then pulling weeds within them till the light was such I couldn't see to do so. Man it is really getting dark outside I said as I entered the house.By this time street lights were coming on. I went outside looked to the east to see any hint of the sun through the overcast .Not a speck. Everything felt surreal.I thought of the account When in battle the sun stood still so the Israelites Could continue to fight. My friend called and we chatted ."What does it look like down your way? ",I asked. She said dusky as she was fifty miles southwest of me.I looked up darkness at nine a.m. on youtube.Went back outside and saw it was even darker.Listened for sound of thunder.Nothing. Wow!I said it is really getting dark".Well it is nighttime ,"my pal replied."I am really worried about you ",she added as well. Then and only then did I realize what I had thought was my awakening to a new day was actually the close of the old. Thank God ! I thought some sort of apocalypse was creeping along Northeast to southwest across the heartland and of the world as a whole as far as I knew.I was just about to do the psychic meltdown when thankfully reality resumed.Post meridiem reprieve. Whew
