I love what you say in a few lines! I have a friend who stays disconnected at times then boom she’s back. I think she has emotional issues so I just accept the times we have together. Of course your poem goes much deeper.

Sad to see friendships end... but I guess in certain circumstances it's inevitable. Especially if distance is in the mix. And like others that have said below me ... the ending is quite clever. I always appreciate writers that push the limits on language, wordplay and so forth. Rules can be quite malleable. PS. You might enjoy the song "How It Feels To Be Replaced" by Alec Benjamin. Same subject matter as this.

Agree...I ink mine on found forest objects I scatter amidst my indoor garden, rocks, birchbark chimneys & petrified wood discovered deep in Superior Nat'l Forest
