Dime a Dozen

Buy 6, get 1 free, 5 for $8, what a great sale! Spent more, save more, bargains galore to reap and bale. Buy more than you need in gluttony's holy grail You'll drink more, eat more, when fridge stashed with cheese and ale When larder stocked so full the shelves begin to fail You've been hoodwinked by the old dime a dozen tale That sellers know has overspend hidden in veil. All the extra loaves of bread you've bought will go stale Use by dates will loom up fast, wasted saves will fail. Bulk buys have 'pigging-out' a swinging in their tail So save your money and spend slowly like a snail With firm foot grounded, weathering the sale wail gale

oh, John, I really like this. I am one who shops for mark down bargains but it actually works pretty well. I have a food storage area in case of troubled times and I try to rotate my food. It does get difficult to do sometimes! Congrats on the winners' list with this well written poem.
