Dig Deeper
As my mind slips
Into empty space
I long to embrace
Death waiting below
All I have to do
Is let the ladder go.
Just when you think
You can’t sink lower
Than the last one
Along comes another rung.
As I went off
My rock-bottom rocker
In Davy Jones' locker
I met the grim reaper
Who passed me a pick
And said: “Dig deeper.”
Just when you think
You can’t sink lower
Than the last one
Along comes another rock.
When I lost my
Med-muddled mind
I couldn’t unwind
The tangled webs of time
With un-thought ideas
Past the paradigm.
Just when you think
You can’t sink lower
Than the last one
Along comes the thought:
‘If I dig any deeper
I’ll come out beyond
The other side.’
