Different
She was different,
Everyone thought she was,
She knew she was,
Through much hell and high water she had come,
Strong was another word to her,
Because inside she was weak,
Very weak,
She wanted strength,
Needed it too...
Body, black and blue
Purple and red,
Hiding the true texture of her beautiful chestnut brown skin,
She always carried a melancholy spirit,
That never seemed to be cheery,
No one understood why,
Maybe it was because her father was abusive,
And left scars mentally, physically, and emotionally
Every night she knelt down to pray,
She found herself doubting more and more.
Her head lowered,
I encouraged her to hold it up,
God has greater expectations for her life,
If she can only realized it,
Don't give up my dear,
Before you reach your breakthrough.
She was different,
Everyone thought she was,
She knew she was,
Yet she stopped her clocked
Before time was actually up,
Not bracing herself,
She broke instead of bended
