Different

We look for acceptance in the things we do We are all different in the way we perceive I am who I am and so are you We can live together if we believe See that kid with the purple hair He sure is different, can't you tell If we can't accept him and show we care Then we are the one's who should rot in hell See that girl, she's only fourteen Pregnant already, for goodness sake If we don't love her and we treat her mean We will lie in the bed we make See that girl with the dragon tattoo She sure s different, isn't she When she gets put down, she feels blue So I guess she's a lot like you and me Children all should know their worth They should all have their own dream Each one is different from the day of birth Each will struggle with their self-esteem Too many times we look but do not see We instill a sense of fear They are different than we would have them be So we listen but we do not hear.

Hey Vince... Good fodder. Reminds me of my generation coming into their own in the 1960's. It seems that every-other generation or so takes a radical departure from the previous one and brings the wrath of the former down upon themselves. Funny how society always assimilates them as they progress through their twenties. I'm not sure what that says socially but it may mean we need to feel a modicum rejection to appreciate acceptance when we receive it. Who knows, it made me think. Thanks... <><
