Desert Bloom
Such sweet fragrance
though solitary bloom
abiding dreams in ruin
of unapt hopes to be hewn
Through soil cracked
and parched by thirst
reluctant tears fell harder
upon a seed of lingering hurt
Yet hope like sunlight warmed
under canopy of night
an unexpected seedling sprouted
and a single stem did rise
A stubborn fight
the will to survive
genesis of solitary bloom
perfuming a barren life
At dawns first light
her vine begins the bind
the morning glory searching
a suitable trellis to climb
Stretched across the barren land
her vine attached
locked In affections hand
but found him not a suitable match
So If by moon or starlight ray
solace comes in the night
morning glory shall soon revise
trading azure soul for white
But bloom she will
and multiply
the bouquet of dreams en mass
which many years denied the past
For now in silence
neath drops of gentle rain
a desert mustang counts each petal
of this solitary bloom trespassing his terrain
Nostril flares for neither care
her vine winds up his massive frame
leaf over leaf she mounts his back
her petals clutch his mane
Teardrops mingle with droplet rains
as the mustang carries her away
beauty and beast under shroud of moon
as mist wraps the cloak of the brave
As if some nightmare on display
the mustang now a man
brushed his fingers through her tangled hair
a dying bloom in his open hand
His eyes dove the depths of her eyes
beholding the soil of her soul
for this flower was once a stallion
back in the days of a foal
Oh the dreams
that haunt me still
of pain and hopes demise
a tragedy of barren times in life
Landscapes transform
adapting to meet the need
but in the quiet washing rain
we see true colors masked by pain
On the journey we often see
our return much different then we came
we then discover what we were meant to be
marked by the hoof prints of the free
Bucking our strength upon the wind
ever learning the depth of our need
evidence of every paroxysm
and replanting a life back from seed
A solitary bloom
quiets the desert crag
In awe such search resumes
for the stallion strong un-gelded man
Unfounded by mornings glory
even the sun has dimmed the bright
amethyst sprigs cross alabaster clouds
like the contrasting colors of life
Take up the palette
the color of storm
for a solitary bloom
armor-less of thorns
Where the moon flower bloom
mixed morning glory heavenly blue
vines combined by the prune
transforming the barren a fragrant perfume
