Dazzling like a sparkling green diamond Eyes lit up when I opened the velvet box! My birthstone for Aquarius is garnet Almandine is most common form with a rich red colour Not for me -I wanted something more unusual The jeweler had to order it in especially for me Of course it came with a very hefty price tag! It is called the 'star of garnets' as its name means diamond like Demantoid is a particularly rare form of the garnet gemstone A Gem for your verse Sponsored by Carolyn Devonshire 10~22~16

Lovely and well-written Acrostic about your favorite gem, Jan. I did not know about this rare green garnet named Demantoid. It looks beautiful! I am partial to anything 'green'! Best wishes for the contest! Hugs, Sandra

It wasn't until I began researching into my birthstone I discovered they also came in orangeish shades and also green and as I too love green I decided to have a necklace made with one in it. Sapphires also come in a variety of colours and I have a rainbow ring and a necklace too:-) hugs Jan xx

Thanks Alexis it is a beautiful gem - i also have a old family ring of small garnets and tiny opals and a garnet ring I got at a car boot sale - it has been the girls engagement ring, they split up and she wanted to sell it - I love the ring and had it re sized and I've met the girl several times and she was delighted to see the ring being worn - she said she couldn't keep it as it had bad memories:-) hugs Jan xx
