Deep Within the Lyrics

The closest thing I know to love Is something I am thinking of In every sorted worry that my mind decides to share While drinking heavy in the past Inside the shadows I now cast The bottom of the bottle lets me know I am aware Collecting on a shouldered score Finding it is nothing more Than voiced in my confessions of imaginary scenes Reaching for a photograph Searching for its aftermath Tuning off the station in the middle of my dreams The fury of this drunken bliss Reminds me of your tender kiss And ever since I felt it, it is something that I long For in the end this fairy tale Reminds me of my quest to fail Deep within the lyrics of some broken hearted song

I spend a lot of time lost in the lyrics of a song because music sets my mood. I liked your description of alcoholism and the futility of it making life better. A most. Comprehensive poem, my friend, I almost didn't want it to end.

Charmaine, thank you for feeling this one. Sometimes you just have to write it out of you. It's been like a roller-coaster for me, up and down emotions. I can't wait until this thrill ride ends.

Chris you are definitely a true lyricist. This is just so lovely but forlorn too. Beautifully written with deep emotion. Bravo. A seven from me. God Bless, JB

Searing poem, Chris. Your self-analysis burns w/a focused intensity of self-awareness. Raw honesty is its own beauty. The last words of this powerful poem was the title of a song by the late great jazz singer Sarah Vaughn. "Broken Hearted Melody." is a beautiful song. If you ever get a chance to hear it, it matches the emotions in your words perfectly, Chris. Love your work as always. RW

I'm familiar with that song Freddie and you are right, it is incredibly beautiful, but just about anything Sarah sang was, that woman could sing. Thanks so very much my friend for your encouraging words. I am happy you enjoyed this one.
