Deep Sleep

I stayed up late to be Alone. Walked to our secret Not so secret place, Only to remember That night Cuddled together taking shelter From the wind In that night If only for a minute, A second, An Instant. I thought we could fly Fly away Leave it all behind As if waking from deep sleep Only to remember a hazy dream Yet the instant faded In And Out Plagued by a blinded monster Who failed to see A dream unyielding We spent the night in silence Yet your touch Your silence Said it all From the beginning Your actions Your touch defined Your dream… My nightmare. Your dream was long and arduous Kind yet unnoticed. Oh how I lay here now Remembering… Remembering that night And every night since The unjust response to your dream. The cruelty laid upon your dream. The wind slowly faded Our moment in time taken The monster blinded no more slowly rose As if rising from deep sleep Looked to the moon, A moon half empty Looked towards your dream To finally see a moon half full Only then had the monster realized What it meant to be blind… Now as every other night As every other day The monster sees it all Hears it all Yet never does he see A full moon.
