Decree

And he thinks of her: Of their lost love and dreams. The photocopied decree, Heavy with its seal Of official disapproval, Flutters leaf-like to the floor. He buries his face in his hands And cries tears of pain and heartache In another passageway in another house On the other side of town A sigh of resignation and regret Escapes her, and she thinks of him. Remembering. Wanting. Needing. Regretting. Still loving him But not liking him very much
