Death's Bell

Oh quivering earthbound leaf You lie so perished in the icy snow You stood out along the smeared snow that lined the streets And now darkened shadows hide in doorways Wreaths that have faded from their jade freshness Piled up along the streets Waiting To be collected into the disparaging trash cans Your time is fatigued Your purpose fulfilled, once intrigued But blowing in the vernal winds of tomorrow Await your seed Thriving on a spring aurora The chimes carried a tune in flight

Beautiful, Laura. The imagery is lovely and there is a mournful feeling woven through it that fits the title so well. Great job! Love, Robin

I like this write-filled with more than just one meatphor it seems!? Smile~actually, it is somewhat amazing-as images of human life fill its words of thoughts lined with truths and wisdoms....almost as if a darkened cloud-yet emitting this light for its reader to ponder!? I loved it~for again, its shows your depthful abilities as a writer of substance and creativity, which imparts the afore mentioned gifts!!~"Love, John!":) On we go....

It makes me sad each year, to discard the beauty that brought us cheer during the holidays. You put that into such an emotional poem. Well done! ~ Carrie
