Death's Bell
Oh quivering earthbound leaf
You lie so perished in the icy snow
You stood out along the smeared snow that lined the streets
And now darkened shadows hide in doorways
Wreaths that have faded from their jade freshness
Piled up along the streets
Waiting
To be collected into the disparaging trash cans
Your time is fatigued
Your purpose fulfilled, once intrigued
But blowing in the vernal winds of tomorrow
Await your seed
Thriving on a spring aurora
The chimes carried a tune in flight
