Death Is Serious

No one knows how long they'll live I guess it's much better that way Who among us really wishes to know To prepare for that final day? Please let it be a gigantic surprise Like maybe while eating ice cream Expire with a huge smile on my kisser Or perhaps pass away while I dream Death's quite messy at the best of times Did you ever hear someone say this “Mary had a really charming death! She even gave me a good-bye kiss!” I think probably the absolute best way Is in the warm embrace of a loved one The shock could cause their death too Then off you both go when fun's done! Bet you're thinking, how can he make fun Of such a serious subject as death Hey! You ain't never going to avoid it So enjoy life till your very last breath ©Jack Ellison 2012

As of late I have been writing a lot about death and our sense of mortality. "Death's quite messy at the best of times" So true, Jack! Death will almost always be unexpected and ugly - thank goodness there is life to balance all that out. Always, Laura

I so agree with you Jack. Let your hair down ... embrace life today see the big and small pleasures in life. Do not wait for death, you live today. One thing is certain .... death comes - but not today (I hope). (I have two funny poems to you Jack - my last two) oxox big hug Anne-Lise :)

Jack; This is very good. I think that we should not be afraid of death, because it is a part of life. It is something that we can not fight. I pray for a nice quiet death without pain. Thanks for sharing. Lucilla
