Deadly Happiness

A fools fancy fades so fast A lightened load will never last A conscience of a sin unknown Will always force a murmured moan There is no hope of any joy Except when, in the end, destroyed, Your dreams come back and burn you down A somniac sets forth a crown So high and mighty Deadly happiness So wrong and right in true complacency The darkest night's still one that you can't see A foolish, faded frown has gone A filthy grin's desolate dawn A truth, a lie, a beggars joy Is deadly when it is destroyed Your dreams come back and burn you down They desolate your crimson crown So high and hollow Deadly happiness You're led, you follow to the wilderness You've bled, you wallow in joy's sweet caress. Such high and hollow Deadly happiness
