Dead Relationships

I guess we're family, But really, we're just related... Who you are? I really don't know. I suppose we're friends, But you're more like an acquaintance... Do you have my back? I don't think so. I say we were together, But we were more like adjacent. We never actually Got close. Maybe I knew you, But do I still know you? Honestly, The answer is no. I recognize your face, But no contact is maintained, And our relationship Hasn't grown... So, why should I claim That we still remain "Something" With some type of hold? To me, it's a shame How people drop names, But do it just for show Old memories fade And old feelings change; It's about time We let old things go.
