Day's End
Day's end, when the curtain is pulled across the land
I sit and watch and drink in the beauty that I see
Shadows by the gate spread and cover the garden
Until only the faint outline of the day is left to me
The scent of evening comes sweetly on the breeze
Lavender from the field, damp earth near the pond
Trailing roses brush my cheek, and the crickets call
Content with the now, no thought to the days beyond
