Days Behind Days Ahead
Days Behind, Days Ahead
I stand with you on your beloved mountains
Our fears merge and light the path
I'll always miss the beauty of you both
Your hidden pain evoked the wrath
I know the "why" that I sought with a vengeance,
Saw the misery in the final defeat
Had you knowledge of all you would give me ?
Seems so simple, to fail is to repeat
At war with the ghost of your demons
The ending comes suddenly and soon
Swallowed in my pain, I could drown
The little girl found dead in her cocoon
I run from the beast that pushed you off the edge
You've forgotten to show me the way
The want, the need, is cutting me deeper
Trees and chainsaws perilously play.
Between the sin of giving in and the stripping of all that covers
The choice to fight fear was given by my hand
An architects creation tested
Curious crowds gather watching it crumble or stand
