Daybreak
Blackness gave way
To silhouettes
Of branch and bough,
Dull pale fire
Heating East’s sky
Whiter, brighter,
‘Til I beheld
Periwinkle
Heaven this dawn,
Shadowy dark
Green foliage
Grateful for sun’s
Warm, amber rays
As I pondered
What to create
This day bequeathed.
