Daybreak
The raucous sounds of a bird call
Awakens me to a lovely dawn
The sky is awash with the warm tones
That tells me another sunny day is born
The palette of nature a sight to live for
Watching and listening to nature at its best
The geese flying over, an elongated dark shadow
Off to the lakes to spend their day at rest
The robin and its twitchy movements
Constantly looking for worms and such
A family to feed plus territory to defend
Short life to live, a happy one nonetheless
The blackbird parents I see next
Flying low so they can see
Nuts and seed left for their breakfast
Just a song is all I ask of he
Time for a coffee to drink at leisure
In this my fresh smelling new day
In a garden that gives me pleasure
Will try and paint the scene per-se
Penned 22 September 2013 waking at 6 am.
