Day By Day
Day by day we fail to see the cage that holds our sanity
We do not know the folds upon the brain
And if we did I doubt we could know half the things we think we should
For without wings birds would never fly.
Why must we try?
Reaching out we're falling fast
Seconds, minutes rushing past
Hours, days, strata of time
A grotesque tragic pantomime
Caught inside a logic trap
No way out and no way back
Ever falling, ever fearing
Sense the bottom somewhere nearing
Faster pumps the living blood
Awaiting the bone-breaking thud
Blood and bleeding
Crying, needing
Help
And dying.
