Dawn's Answer
Morning in the metropolis
and as light pour from the sky
The city awakes!
Autos rush by on the FDR drive
A thousand cups of coffee are
imbibed
As people rush to their places of employment
They realize that dawn is the answer
to the shadows which have grown
long in the asphalt homeland
Men and women, boys and girls
face the glare of the sun
Putting on brave faces
they do their best to survive
The metopolis brings pain
but it also brings joy
to those who are willing to join in
the urban battle
which so many have a part in
And , indeed take part in today
