Dawn Bird

Somewhere soulful the dawn bird laughs, And the sound means something, To someone. Perhaps the land is rough and dry, Or full of monsoon rain. And the resonance, The slight of ear, Perhaps is never heard, Yet it means something, To someone. We need not sense the sky, To know it’s there. We need not see love, Yet it means something, To someone. And somewhere gracious, Somewhere kind, The dawn bird sings. Perhaps its nest lies empty, It's home without care. Or perhaps it finds its life fulfilled. Whatever its place, Or purpose. Or wants. The dawn bird flies, And we need not catch it, To believe. We need not cage it, For it to mean something, To someone.
