Darkest Wrong
. for public domain
Many I know have done wrongs much worse
than steal a coin from an old woman's purse,
wound a friend when a friend needs a nurse,
return a favor with a biting curse,
but the darkest wrong I ever known done
by the villain or saintly, - by anyone,
no blow that I know could be tougher,
not forgiving the wrongs that we suffer.
For our human souls needs forgiving,
as much as an ailing heart needs love.
So many are lost among the living,
save for the Grace of Heaven above.
