Dark of the Moon
DARK OF THE MOON
I wake late in sudden darkness of the moon.
I arise because it's too dark to stay asleep.
The stillness and the quiet is abrasive to my ears.
The Great Rift is light in this darkness of the night.
The new moon's silence somehow hurts my ears.
A vertigo ensues when I lift me from my bed.
I fall and cannot walk in the truest name of night.
Every star blinks out in this darkness of the night.
Dark of the moon's presence pulls me from a dream.
While it is a Super Moon that makes me quicken most.
Always a creature awake by full light or dark of the moon.
Either one will call me in this darkness of the night.
I hear the music between the notes and on the rest,
and stars are brightest against the panther black of night
I seem to know in the pause between the words,
in the silence now disclosing,
in this darkness of the night.
