Dark Midnight Slept Alone
Dark midnight slept alone,
then I awoke the same,
as the sad eyed moon shone
upon my naked frame,
as I reached for your impression.
But gone, you flew! and never
cared for the depression
that would come from the sever
of your soft reality,
now faded between the sheets.
Alas! but was it real before
sleep danced upon my eyes?
It seems it was of yore
when I kissed your sweet surprise,
passioned embrace infolded in sweat.
How shadows crumble and flee
between the cracks of time,
and I can nolonger see
except in the memory of mind,
the warmth of your silhoutte.
I remember your faded smile,
what's left for me to hold,
and far tomorrows in numbered pile
will turn my memories cold,
into a frozen dream of you.
But till that cold forgotten day
I'll believe it was all true,
and will continue to replay
that short love 'tween me and you
dried tears in darkened gaze.
