Dark Dimension

What is this survival plan? Existing day to day Playing parts In others' lives Never knowing Whether you are just fulfilling a role Or it is you that counts There is the living life plan Seems a good option Where you are immersed In what is going on And feel you belong there With a sense of fulfillment Confident you actually exist I am ticking off life's achievements As if it's a blueprint to be happy But when you don't feel you are real It is like a run through Everything achieved But nothing marked against your name You float on the ether, waiting Maybe this is the dark dimension Where the light doesn't get in You go through the motions But remain in the dark As if trapped by shadows A being, existing unintentionallly Taking up space I am able to see, hear and feel Though feel I connect With only silken threads Wispy and translucent Almost invisible Too impossibly delicate to grasp Without disappearing altogether Those in the light Walk a path Past the dark dimension Interaction occurs But my legs are stuck fast In bear traps, set for a bad world That accidentally caught the child inside The dark dimension Allowed for much contemplation Where thoughts were the company I kept Telling me all the ways Any success could be deemed failure I need to comfortably exist Step up and out from the dark dimension Dark Dimension poetry contest Written 16 Jan 23 Sponsored by: Robert James Liguori
