Dark Night of the Soul
Where in this world can we rest our heads
On this pilgimage to our final beds?
Are we but for worms a supper
Or in transition to a better world proper?
How shall we know?
Faith is our anchor in this living hell
But who returns to tell?
Christ alone with His wounds to show.
Darkness with flashes illumined
Light with clouds obscured
Ears to reason inured
Eyes that are blind
To stumble,to fall,to rise once again
To bravely go forward despite all the pain
To endure the torments of sickening sin
To finally reach the solace of His Son.
