Cycle 's End
The fireplace rests for now
but embers still burn softly
waiting for a family to gather
in it's warmth--the laughter,
the musings, the prayers all said-
ready for others to share
evening's warmth and magic,
to tarry once again
for more lively life sounds
trailing in silence for life to renew
a ritual of gratitude and anticipation
on this fresh collage of night,
when the gloss of stars induces
a flame of readiness , of closure
in a time when the air is vulnerable
even for a while as affection cuddles
the ending of a cycle's hourglass.
