Crying
When Z died
I had never cried
So much for someone
Hour upon hour
I would think of her
And a tightness in my chest
Would spread
As I thought of the suddenness
Of her passing
How afraid
She must have been
How she must have suffered
Even more than when she was
Living her life
My tears flowed
For my loss
And for hers
But then one day
The drops stopped
The ache ended
And I thought of her less and less
Did that make me
Cold? Callous? Uncaring?
Or is that the natural order of things?
A subsidence of depth
For tears that were wept
So many cried
Yet they have all dried
