Crimson Egos
Crimson Egos
by Lori Maria Walton (2014)
skins gold brown, pale pink, formed before names
religions of submission, sedition, scarcity, and stocks
who created the numbness of your arguments?
egos inflated, lift presidents far away from ideas of peace
creating blood splattered trays served as media sacrifice
to the gods of greed, malice, hatred, violence, and injustice
khalaas. bas. khuttum. finito. stop!
darkness filtered through darkness, smoke rising to the top
of nostrils bereft of empathy, insatiable appetites eating their own
brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, children of
ONE HUMAN RACE.
soft voices scream loudly for peace,
smothered by masquerades of artillery,
shooting divisive words of fear,
pocketing smiles of hypocrisy, as commands
of self righteous wars lead further down the path
away from justice, equality, and freedom.
