Cracked Screen

Talk about me Like I am not in the same room Push me from your priorities, But your mind will not obey You must engrossingly aknowledge The edges that mishapen me Slide your grubby fingers against the surface Like you do, Like you tell your friends Unlock my insecurities, With one horizontal swipe Erasing history Sustaining shame All you have gained, Is what you tethered on the surface The very surface you despise That you misunderstand, The ones that you feed the lies to Will you never realize, The reality that hazes into black numbness With your lingering actions? You will never see through me now Because I am shattered, paralyzed Not victimized, just barely survived I am rough to the touch... But what did you expect, After dropping me so much? 5/13/2016

Unusual topic, covered in your own inimitable style, some cool imagery and great attention to inanimate detail, well done Laura....Ian

It's always very intriguing to me how you can make such engaging metaphors from seemingly random things ... the koala & eucalyptus tree, Pluto ... and now smart phones. As I'm writing this comment, I look at my iPhone with an odd sort of sympathy now; it even has a cracked screen that I never bothered to fix because the warranty expired, and it's too old that they don't even make the same screens anymore. It's peculiar but very powerful personification, Laura. Applicable to other things, too.

Very interesting! I too have a cracked phone, but I can at least still see what I am looking at and texting at least. Thank you for your kindness, Timothy. I hope you are doing well, and that you have a lovely summer ahead!(:<3~Laura

Thanks Eileen, for the kind words and the visit!!! A long drop from someone you care about is always hard-hitting, often shattering. It's unfortunate a lot of us know the feeling. <3~Laura

I love it, such an interesting and descriptive perspective. "Unlock my insecurities, With one horizontal swipe""Not victimized, just barely survived" More than just a phone this is damaged, very good laura! :)
