Cowboys Never Quit

He sits atop a hurricane, Of muscle, bone and grit and pain, This rodeo will be his bane, But cowboys never quit. A thousand pounds of turbulence, A ride of thunder, quite intense, It's full of drama and suspense, But cowboys never quit. It's man and beast and bravery, As bull and cowboy disagree, And one is thrown and one is free, But cowboys never quit. Another ride, another day, The bulls still win and cowboys pay, But with the rodeo he'll stay, For cowboys never quit.

"Don't be afraid to go after what you want to do, and what you wan to be. But don't be afraid to be willing to pay the price." ~Lane Frost~ This poem reminds me of the late great, bull rider and cowboy. Thank you for posting this beautifully imaginative poem. I agree with the 7+++

Wow David! I love this, each word builds on the intensity, you have put me 'ringside' on a scarred wooden bench, feeling dust in my eyes.:-) This could easily be a song too. the title is fabulous, wonderfully penned. Love it! A fave, 7+++ blessings, lynn

Thank you, Lynn. I love rodeos and try to get to one or two every summer. Other than that I have no experience as a cowboy, so this will probably be the only cowboy poem I ever write.
