Courage

Courage, is having to live every second, every minute, every hour, One day at a time without my only born child Unbidden tears surge from my inner marrow Rummaging my mind, disarming my armor Adapting, trying to continue to exist Gingerly masquerading my wearisome grief Extinguishing my burning embers 12/15/2016 Always having faith in God This is what courage means to me This poem was inspired by a cousin and her only child. He was murdered 7 years ago at the age of 16 in front of his home. Her grief is still like the first time it happen when she held him in her arms while he was dying . I just cannot fathom how she can coup with everyday life.

This is heart renting. I know I lost one of my daughters but I thank God I still have the other one with me. I grieve deeply for this woman and you have expressed the magnitude of her grief well by using words like 'marrow and wearisome. Congratulations.

Thank you, Jo, she has been working as a secretary in a hospital for over 30 years so it keeps her very busy. But they are very supportive to her..

The loss of a child is, I think, beyond description. I've known some. They grieve often and through the years. Their courage can lead to reward of shouldering another's pain, honoring son or daughter with another's.

This random act was senseless, 15 year old girl, her brother of 17, and her boyfriend 19 year old kids just out for the fun of it and just shot him. She went to school the next day bragging about the incident that is how they were caught.

One friend lost 5year old to cancer and my cousin died at 52. These ages make little difference in a mother's heart. But tragic death hurts to the core. So sorry for your loss. A hug for you, my friend. xx
