Phone calls, then running down long halls. Drive fast, damned traffic, but at last. Must park, make payment in the dark. Run in, puff puff, catch second wind. Then soon, I'll find you in some room. White coats, dispensing antidotes. So small, so fragile -- like a doll. Green-blue, that gown can't comfort you. Ice cold, these blankets won't withhold. Make warm, fluff pillow, no alarm. You smile. I'll be here for a while. All through, I'm watching over you. Eat eat, some soup, but was that meat? Tic toc, until some sleepy talk. Kiss Kiss, dim light and 'Goodnight, Sis'. Brought cheer. I'm done. I’m outa here. ~ collaboration with T Kirk Tierney ~ AP: Honorable Mention 2022 Posted on June 25, 2022
