Count Down

I am counting the days until I can be with you again, I wish I was just counting hours, I can't wait until one day we share the rent, But for now I will just turn up with flowers. I am counting on you to keep my heart free, Though to you I will always belong, So I will try and share with you eloquently, With rhyming and music and song. I am counting the beats of my fit to burst heart, As they skip and they dance and they live, Oh why does our life need to keep us apart, Whilst we ration all we are able to give. I am counting the lines that appear on my face, As my lips turn upward to smile, When I think about your tender embrace, That will envelop me again in a while. I am counting some money that I wish I could spend, To gift you or share a nice meal, But my bank account seems to apprehend, and I have to keep it real. I miss you my lover in every avenue, But I will soon be with you once more, and after we kiss and drink away our adieu, I will promise to try not to snore.
