CONNVERSATION (quadruple Tanka)
Young: “what do old men do?”
Old: “are ya tryin’ ta be cute?”
Young: “no cute is for kids”
Old: “you plannin’ ta write a book?”
Young: “some day I too will be old
and I need to know
i’m not trying to be cute
not writing a book
tell me what do old men do?”
Old: “well friend this will take some thought
let’s start with monday”
Young: “great! the first day of the week
Old: “just wait i’m thinkin’ ………
Young: “don’t bother with step-by-step
just be general old man”
Old: wait! now let me see…….
Young: “why not start with breakfast”
Old: “oh! I’m way past that”
Young: “okay why not fill me in”
Old: “too late i’m ready for bed”
