Contests

I would love a contest from an outsider knowing not anyone, not biased from an insider; I bet none of the above would qualify none of the winning poems justify; Biased, what does this word mean Does it matter how good the others are just as long the judge demean? Come on Poetry soup, you surely can come up with a better system it seems that being a friend and commenting is the rhythm. I enter contest for fun, while I write with controversy while us, other contestants faced with your hypocrisy. Please organizers of contests be aware of true capability Ignoring the fact that your opponents has no ability. Scratch my back and I scratch yours This way my unknown friend, we both get scores. Contests should run without prejudice but in this case there is no tolerance'

The average person here wins about half to 2/3 the time. I am no exception. you are right that a few judges are giving wins to friends. I admire those of us who judge blind and are doing our best to be fair!

Hey Nehpets, I am pretty new to the "soup" and I was thankful to get my first second place as you have just gotten today in the Interlocking Rhyme contest. It takes patience, and people, being human as they are, we sometimes let you down, but life is too short to get that upset over it (unless it's a gross, obvious problem) :)

I would hate to think I had been placed in a contest based on anything other than the quality of the poem - I have 15 n/a's on my current page of contest entries - I read widely and comment as often as I can. I would love to see all contests with no name on but this still wouldn't be a fair system as often you can simply get to know the 'style' of a particular poet. At the end of the day - the judge's decision is final and we either accept it or simply don't enter the contests.:-) Hugs Jan x
