Content of Character - In Memory of Dr Martin Luther King Jr

Why can’t we be judged by the content of our character? Are we now racist, because of white privilege and black lives matter? This is our new wall, racism is still dividing, these two profound statements are creating bitter chatter. Dr. King lost his life because of his dream in 63, segregation is what this great man envisioned would one day leave. The architects of our Republic intended all men to be free, our declaration of independence is what we now need to believe. As a people we need to remember, all of our positive achievements, we need to move forward and continue to gain ground. We need to focus on life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We are all created equal, this evident truth has got to be found. We all need to sit down at the table of brotherhood. Everything we do right now, needs to be done together. We need to erase all of our anger and live here as one people if we join our hearts, there is no storm we can’t weather. Mark, a great follow-up to your Color Blind poem last week. You have great things to say about the content of our character that should rise above any thought of the color of our skin. Congrats ~ John

Things can be changed by peaceful methods and they work Martin Luther King, Ghandi are examples. No need to riot and loot, if you do you've lost your cause and support diminishes. Sadly in all colours there are racists. Its up those without hatred in their hearts to lead the way for others to follow. Well written Mark Tom

Jesus is another good example of peaceful protest. "The meek shall inherit the earth" must have sounded like gibberish to the Zealots.

I completely agree with you Tom. We have gained a lot of ground since the 60's. I hope we don't lose any more. Thank you

This is the best and most positive I have seen this subject worded. When the BLM movement first started, I was at work and a black coworker of mine, a dear friend, leaned over to me and said, “black lives matter, all lives matter.” I felt teary-eyed and wanted to give her a big hug. Such is the way every human feels, we want to matter. Blessings to you! A fave for me!

I appreciate that Kim, I just hope that people will stop and think about this new divide that's being created. God bless!
