Stephano observed the culture-seeking throng
that filled the massive auditorium with applause.
He knew many would linger after the performance
to claim a prize they would treasure, his autograph.
After bowing deeply in all directions to the spectators,
he focused his attention on the performers, smiling
at them reassuringly, willing them to have confidence.
The internationally-renowned conductor gracefully
took his place on the raised podium and, with a deep
breath and a dramatic flourish, raised his baton~~
“STEVE! Time for supper, then chores and homework.”
“Coming, Mama,” responded the smart, imaginative
ten-year-old who had recently astounded his parents
by truly enjoying a Leonard Bernstein biopic.
