Come the Morn

She stood on the clifftop watching the waves Before her the Sun beginning to set, Her lover had gone but wanted no grave So she scattered his ashes in the place where they met. Above her head she heard seagulls crying Echoing across a darkening sky, Was it a lament, a song for the dying Was it her beloved saying goodbye. She could not bear to live without him For he was her heart, how could she grieve She looked over that cliff 'tho it was a sin She knew the answer, she'd never leave. Come the morn who could have known How love played out high o'er the sea, Where seeds of despair and sadness had grown She'd cast them aside, and set her heart free. Grief in the heart can overrule any other emotion. Your rhymes in this well told tragedy are appreciated, Gary.
