Follow the path that runs through the dale Where it turns leading down by the spring Lush ferns and ivies line the trail Nearly everything bites or stings The dogwood blossoms and the redbud trees Paint splotches of pink and white Their aromas wafting on a lazy breeze Awakening the senses with delight Gray squirrels and chipmunks will timidly hide The birds will announce your arrival An intruder alert which nature provides A necessity for their survival Over the ridge, into the ravine Where moss covered rocks are chairs That's where I'll be, by the gurgling spring Come and find the solitude there. Reminds me of Rumi. Beautifully scripted./ "Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing there is a field. I'll meet you there. When the soul lies down in that grass the world is too full to talk about." Congrats Danny!

Oh, such divine imagery, Daniel - truly a beautiful poem, so much so that I didn't feel lonely reading it, but consoled by the nature and its marvels all around me! Nevertheless, I did feel the lonely when I re-read it and it touched me in a different way than the first read. It is a beautiful write! Truly. How happy I am to congratulate you!!! CayCay

Thank you CayCay. For me it wasn't as much being alone as it was where I was during that time.

Daniel, this sounds so GOOD (especially as we go into the winter seasonality) even that admirably crisp "everything bites or stings" part. Best, Doug.

Thank you, Jean. It doesn't look like that in the late fall but I've been there so many times, I know it from memory:)

Very descriptive and picturesque poetry. I'm so glad you wrote it in rhyme. To me that is poetry, All other forms are experimental; but then again that's just me. Very nice

Very lovely picture, that sounds like a very pretty place to be. But then eventually person finds that even self-imposed solitary can be lonely. Hope you find somebody to share your Solitude with.
