The Cyprus vacation would have served you well, Eileen...a rest in good company is ideal for a dormant muse to wake up refreshed and raring to go:) Thank you for stopping by. Hugs // paul

I also found it hard to come up with something, Connie; in the end simplicity solved the problem:) Here the heat wears you out; the best thing is to get up early and do the jobs around the house while it's still cool...then go swimming:) Regards // paul

I enjoy the phrasing and rhythm of your work. The idiom you created is good worked well in the context of your poem. The contest was highly competitive which left out about 10 poems which were worthy of placement – including this one. Thanks for entering the contest and I will check out some more of your work!

Hi Angie! Perhaps I should have titled this poem "Scant Consolation"! When it gets too hot there is not much one can do to ward off heat and lethargy. ~ Thank you for a pleasant visit:) Hugs // paul

Good one, Paul. You could say the same about the unfortunate ones under hoardings/huge adverts for our consumerist crowds. ~karam~
