Clown

Like the clown that paints his face and smiles at people, that's the way that my life is. Like the clown that goes through life always smiling, always pretending. that's the way that my life is. For the people he always puts on a happy face, but his heart is crying inside. many people see him. Many people admire him, but what do they know of what is in his soul. The people like him and the people admire him and they yell - Clown, Clown. He turns around with his painted face, does a trick, or two and the people are happy. He keeps on walking, smiling and making the people happy. But nobody knows what he is feeling inside. That is the way a clown makes his living. You would ask me - Why do I compare myself to a clown? I will tell you, that in the morning when I get up, I put on my clown's face, because mine the people might not like. It would be marked with sadness and scars from the hard blows that life has brought me. With my painted face, I can keep on smiling and greeting the people. No one can see any deeper. Even if my heart is suffering inside, on the outside I will always be smiling. Clown, how can I not comprehend you, when our lives are so alike. We can see eachother in the same mirror. Clown, this is the way my life will go on. I can not stop it, nor can I change it. I will keep on smiling and pretending, because a clown has to make the people happy... Copyright: 2006 By Lucilla M. This write can be felt by every reader everywhere in the world. Each person we meet has some kind of mask hiding their pain and sorrow. Sometimes we need to look past the mask and into their soul to realize what they are going through. nice write

WOW! Lucilla, your poem,, gave me the chills... I have a clown poem... hits the same notes your CLOWN poem does... Of course your poem, is way better than mine... I can't even explain what i felt when I read your poem... The whole system you describe here, about faking as life goes on..is reality to many of us...I like the whole painted picture.. I too will go on smiling and pretending life is okay... love your poem.. adding this poem to my favorites.. xox~ PD

Thanks PD. There are a lot of us clowns in the among us, that put on a show for the rest of the world. I like clowns and I collect them. I still have to get the picture of a clown that is smiling, but a tear is running down his face. Many blessings to you. Lucilla

Reminds me of "Tears of a Clown" a really great song. Was this for the circus contest, Lucilla? It could be! I don't like pretending, so I would not be the clown! But I think very good people intent on making others happy when they are sad inside fit this description. Sorry if you feel sad inside, sweetie.

Hi Andrea; I didn't know there was a contest about a ciccus. I will look it up. I don't pretend too much, but sometimes I have had to put on a show. Many blessings. Lucilla
