too much too little too late - we knew it had to end

Poet's note:
12/29/2018

Poetry form: Monoku - While this is truly a Monoku, this is the first instance of me using a lyric line from a well known song for my Monoku.  So I am designating this particular form of Monoku as a Lyricku - a type of Monoku that is made up of a single horizontal line consisting of seventeen syllables or less, in addition to being a lyric line from a well known song.  (I have a poetic license that allows me to get away with stuff like this from time to time.  Just sayin'...)

Lyric credit:  Too Much, Too Little, Too Late | Written by: Nat Kipner & John Vallins | Released 2/21/1978

I like that little invention, lyicku. Cute word for it! Though the topic is far from cute. It's downright scary what has happened to our earth.

Nicely done, Mark. If we could take the blinders of people and see the results of what is happening. But, no they just don't want to believe. Good luck in the contest. May you have a happy new year with lots of blessings. Hugs Eve ~`*

Thank you for your comment, Eve, and for your well wishes too. Nero fiddled while Rome burned, so many years have past, what have we learned? ~Mark

I'm not sure I know this song, but your monoku rings with truth!

so glad to see you credit the lyrics Mark, I've recently seen monoku using lyrics written as though they were the poet's own words!:-( hugs Jan xx

You know me, Jan. Some of what I write is short and sweet, but sometimes bitter. When it's bitter, I try for bitter-sweet to make it more palatable. To me using a lyric that was written with a different meaning shines more of a light on my subject matter and makes the bitter a little sweeter. I hope I'm making some sense :) Thank you for highlighting the need to credit the lyric :) ~Mark

I applaud your efforts to give credit though I can't help but suspect that many, truly many, have said, 'too much too little too late' (pretty much just thinking 'aloud'). Your monoku is as sad and gray as the issues it refers to, ergo - it is, to me, perfect. All the best ... CayCay

This is the debut of my Lyricku - a type of Monoku that is made up of a single horizontal line consisting of seventeen syllables or less, in addition to being a lyric line from a well known song. How about them apples?

I do like it, and I like the name of it too; very catchy in both ways. The lyricku and the name 'lyricku'. Smartly done.
