Clear Sailing
Clear Sailing
They made it clear to me I was not free
regardless of the lies I had been told
for they were as the blind who never see
soft beauty in the hearts of men so bold
I rose upon a crest of raging truth
then found that gentler words could also teach
for reason is a lover not a brute
rounding the rolling stones of learning’s beach
Yet ships still run aground in roiling surf
when captains underestimate the sea
succumb to blind belief in logic’s worth
believe the voyage was to set them free
Cracked hulls, salt stained decks, soft hearts still seeking
hard truth every breaking wave is teaching
