Clear Difference
I could see
the light in your eyes
when it was all going awry—
excitement in the pandemonium,
and all I wanted was relief from
all the restlessness and the noise.
Why must every scene in your life
have an audience?
And then I remember
what words do to me,
what I share from my mind
is like the words you utter
and the inflection of excitement
in your voice.
Who will hear what I have to say?
I will post exactly what I write!
We must speak out against this.
We connect with the world
differently and our hungers
are separate but equally insatiable—
But there is a clear difference
between wanting attention and
excitement and wanting meaning
and understanding.
