City Lights
City Lights
City lights flickered across the bay.
Where we sat to talk after midnight.
Ocean waves gently slapped the shoreline.
Each time, taking a problem and making it simple.
Until that is all the moment was.
Like the only two people on a troubled earth,
Without a single worry left.
Safe, secure, renewed we were.
Our purpose waiting for when we return.
I think of that beach often,
Since, your death leaves it empty of us.
At a time it seems we had it all.
Respect, a bond, a mission united
For something so few understood.
We knew what it meant, that is what matters.
May, your light keep shining on me today.
Blessed for all the sacrifice you made.
May, the water splash with salty midnight breeze
To carry your message of strength and loyalty.
To accept without judgement,
To know exactly when to do the right thing.
