Often when the Christmas story is read at least in a Christian home, Luke 2 is read, but the story is also found in the book of Matthew.  I used BOTH accounts of the birth of Jesus to write this.

Christmas Story A to Z A: Augustus the Roman emperor took a census B: Bethlehem was where Joseph had to return C: Clip clop went the hoofs of the donkey he rode D: Descendant of King David and engaged to pregnant Mary E: Every star witnessed the birth in the manger F: From a field nearby were shepherds G: Guarding their flocks of sheep H: Heard an angel of the Lord proclaim fear not I: “I bring you good news, that will bring great J: “Joy to all people, the Savior has been born in Bethlehem K: “Know him by the swaddling clothes laying in the manger” L: Loudest praises from the host of heaven “Glory to God in the highest” M: Made way the shepherds to Bethlehem to see what they were told N: Name was given to baby Jesus eight days later O: On hearing news of this baby King Herod was deeply disturbed P: Prophets of old foretold the birth in Bethlehem Q: Quietly Mary and Joseph fled to Egypt R: Realizing Herod had been outsmarted he wanted all the baby boys in Bethlehem dead S: Star lead the way for the wise-men to find baby Jesus T: The story of the first Christmas can be read in Matthew and Luke U: Unto all the world Jesus is the Savior V: Victory is given in Jesus W: We are not specifically told there were only three wise-men X: X-out of the possibility of being replaced is what Herod wanted Y: Yahweh The Lord, I AM Z: Zion! The Lord in Zion reigns now and forever!

A beautiful re-telling of the events surrounding the birth of Jesus. A FAV for my list, Miranda. You wrote an excellent Abecedarian poem with a great message for the Christmas season! I want to wish you and those you love, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! as we celebrate the birth of our Savior. Bill

I am really glad this poem made your fav list. It was a tough write, but I had my Bible open and was determined. Have yourself a happy New Year too, as we the humans spin into more utter chaos than the crazy we call life.
