Christmas Morn

The pitter patter of tiny feet To the tree in a rush of glee To see if they could meet That big man in red that is known to flee As soon as he’s had his cookies and milk The disappointment of him not being there Quickly forgotten as the floor had been filled By bright promises and boxes everywhere Left by that big man in red that is known to flee As soon as he’s had his cookies and milk The bubbling excitement cheers the whole house As mother wakens her hung-over spouse The bubbling excitement cheers the whole world With lights and music and tinsel unfurled Left by that big man with hands that were red As soon as he’s love for all of us bled
